I caught a pothole the other day while avoiding another road user (he had no lane discipline on a roundabout, but that's another story - after all, the markings aren't all that clear rolleyes ), and this cracked one of my alloys.

Personally, I think the wheel is now the makings of a coffee table since the crack in question is 1/2" long and is on the inside bead. But it was suggested by someone whos opinions I usually respect that the wheel might be safely repairable.

I am not yet convinced, so I wondered if anyone had gone through with such a repair and whether or not it was successful long term?

It would be good to repair the wheel because they aren't available new any more, and are an odd size that doesn't seem to ever appear on the 2nd hand market. (But there is always the lure of a new set of Compomotives... wink )

Thanks

I hit a huge pothole about a year ago and cracked the inner rim of one of my Ultralite wheels. Had it repaired and the whole set refurbished by:

The repair was fine, and no problems since

Just got an estimate from Lepsons. They say it most likely can be fixed.
