How can thread-thru DVD cables in BMW e60 e61 rear seat?

Hello everyone,
wondering if anyone out there has tried to install headrests with built in DVD screens into a BMW e60 or e61 (5 series 04 onwards)..
I have found a pair off the bay for £180, they have the screens built in and all cables come out of the hollow post (hope that's safe??), then you thread the cables out the bottom of the seat to power etc.
Thing is my seats are lovely, and leather and fear I might just wreck them unless someone knows how to, I guess remove the separate back section that is plastic. It feels clipped on..
If not, I guess it's off to the dealer for a look at one of those exploded diagrams on the pooter.
