I have two memory drives on my computer. Acer(c) and Data (D) now the C drive is pretty full but all the time i have had the computer the D drive has been empty. Whats the difference between these two memorys? I have just enabled sharing on the D drive and it is now able to store stuff on it.... am i being a flid here? but i have just doubled my memory and am really quite pleased.
So can someone explain the difference?

you basically have 2 partitions, which are separated sections of the hard drive. you have a majority for you documents and data, and a smaller partition for the windows files. This is useful because any corruption on the windows partition means it shouldn't affect your personal data. Basically, I'd advise leaving the smaller partition as it is, as you may find if you have any problems with windows then you shouldn't lose any data.

You have C and D drive. They exist on the same physical entity but that isn't important right now.
Now the operating system and all the files your computer needs to operate are stored on the C drive and it is this drive you will need to format and reinstall should anything catastrophic occur.
As the previous poster stated the best idea is to keep all your files on the D drive where if there is a problem they wont be affected by a format and reinstall of C drive. And just leave the C drive with windows on it.
This will ensure minimal disruption should you need to reinstall your operating system.
Enabling sharing on D wont make it be used. You need to do this manually, every program that you install, instead of letting it go where it wants, specify a destination on the D drive. Any music or movies you have and I would cut and paste them onto the D drive.
