Cobblers. Razor blades, big sack and a bag of salt for them all.

TVR car parts maybe? Some have used griff/chim struts but sounds like a complete new covering needed?

why on earth would anyone want the targa section!

Sorry to hear your news. This thread has been running on the S forum The sections are completely different, but if you can't get a replacement panel, maybe you could contact Roger Morris and see if the folding variant could be feasible.

Those 'S' ones look quite expensive. I've been thinking along the same lines but much simpler - hopefully under £100 - for a roof that you can fold up and stow behind a seat. It's not for use at speed but the idea is that you can put it up relatively quickly in case it rains, saving wear and tear on the hard roof panel. If you're a "hard core" wedger you could even leave the hard panel at home ;^)

I don't know if you're doing this under insurance but if you want an original rear section check the parts hoard.

Used to have one of those flappy top sections on this kit car of mine until it parted company at about 90, never to be seen again. hehe

TIP: attach a safety line to it, and no probs...apart from beating you to death in the wind. biggrin

As the original brakes aren't that good it could double up as one of those parachute's!!!

Just wondering... since I rarely use the center section (but need to keep it in the car) and it has gotten scuffed and worn in the boot, would it make sense to recover it in something more durable than cloth? Some type of black plastic roof material? Anyone seen one and how bad did it look?

My neighbor has a targa 911 and her folding top looks fine when in place but it's a type of plastic. At some point I had a 914 and I think the top was also covered in plastic over the fiberglass. (Of course, it was actually designed to stow in the boot with rubber hold down latches - who would think?) Grady

Sounds horrible.

Best would be to keep it in the proper protective cover, assuming you have one...or have one made out of 'leather cloth'.

Also 'Renovo' products or similar can be used to keep the roof section smart and water-repellent. Even black boot polish . biggrin

I find the roof bag a pain to use so I've been using a couple of bits of carpet - one on the spare wheel and one above the roof section when in the boot - this works really well. Make sure you cover the roof near where the boot latch is.

My spare wheel is on a shelf in the garage, as is the toolkit, but I do have a spare can of fuel and some tyre inflator stuff.

The roof section is either on (for security only) or left at home in its smart little bag. smile
