They are new - only been around six months. Started up by a banker type from what I can see. They seem to have a few staff now but are only a broker at the end of the day - buying and selling other peoples energy. Some of these types come and go (but lets not knock enterprise and competition).

They do come up cheapest, but I elected to stay with a big name. EDF have always come up well in the Yorkshire area - different companies can be more competitive in different areas. They are are all cheeky buggers though - you need to watch for new tariffs that might be better.

The main recommendation I have - get the move done NOW - and get a nice tie in deal. I think prices are going to start and go up soon after the falls of recent months. Employment is looking like it is starting to increase and oil is flying. Other energy sources will start to track sooner rather than later after remaining sluggish through late winter and early spring.

That reminds me I must get a new deal sorted for gas at work - small at about £5k per year (compared to our six figure electric). We generate heat so only need more on the coldest days.

Hmm well just spoken to our current supplier (Scottish Power) who can put me onto a cheaper tariff that locks me in until december - however its still slightly more expensive than OVO are.

OK, bit of a thread ressurection !!

I've been with OVO since June, tied in for 12 months at a very low rate and still seem to be in credit with them.

However, recently I have had an e-mail requesting a photograph of my elec meter as they cannot identify it through the usual sources ( this is 6 mths down the line now !! ).

I promptly took a phot or 2 and e-mailed them at the required address. Its now been over a month and I've not heard anything. They are still taking the dd from my bank every month and all seems OK.

I then noticed on this months statement (via e-mail as usual) that they are still taking the same amount but there is no mention of my elec account. I phone them up to have a chat and enquire and the number on the statement and on the web site is dead.

Anyone else having the same problem or experienced difficulties with OVO energy ??

I have been with these guys for over a year and have been very pleased with the service.

My DD was a little steep compared to what I was using, so they reduced it and refunded a large chunk of the balance.

They now offer interest on your credit, as an incentive to leave your money with them.

I poked around on Quidco and found this: 'Football Saver tariff dual fuel switch to npower (£50 paid once your switch is complete, £50 loyalty bonus after 6 months)'.

Dear god, why can't I just buy cheap power without fruitbats? And what the flying *** has football got to do with it? banghead

Panic over, number now works, apparently they were having technical difficulties during the festive period with phone system. All sorted out now by a very pleasant young lady called Claire smile
