A Noble in London

Hi ,I am new to this amazing site. I would like to ask a few questions . I am considering a noble after having tried a 3R a long while back at mole valley ,all i remember was getting out with a big smile on my face but I couldn't buy one then. I live in London now and i would like to know where the nearest service centre would be ? The other point is whether to go for the 3r or the m400.I would use the car 3/4 times a week with trips to brighton and surrey. I have not tried an m400 yet but reading somewhere i understood it's more geared to track use and because of the increased power and the tyres it uses would it be harder to live with in wet conditions and normal daily use compared to a 3R ? They do quite a few Nobles here.

i dont know how people cant use them in the wet theres loads of grip with a quality set of tyres

Pirelli Corsas are fitted to M400's as standard, so if you want to drive in rain (or more importantly cold) then its a tyre change (which would be a shame) or a 3R.

Verba1, I wouldn't get too hung up on the 3R or 400 question. I think most of us on here, when we were looking have asked the same question. It really depends what you want the car for and how much you want to spend. The 400 is a much rarer beast to find and so as an investment the 400 is good bet. The thing is there are quite a few 3R’s out there (look through the classified section) that have been sensibly modified to give 400 bhp upgraded wiring and fuel pump, upgraded intercooler etc etc. The other thing with the 3R is it also won’t lose money like other performance cars due to the fact that as they get written off they also become rarer. I went with the 3R and the money saved I’ve spent on trying to get the car to how I want it. Best of luck in your search, a members car on here would be a good place to start.

Thanks Paul . That does help .It sounds like the 3R is the more all rounder for daily use. I might need to get a test drive of an M400 if that is at all still possible ?. When you say rarer do you mean fewer were made?

Yes I use it in London. It is actually a very easy car to drive around town. Quite easy to pottle around town in 2nd gear.

Everyone gives way to you - so in fact one could say it is easier to drive than other cars!

Again I spent my money on a 3R and with the money I have saved I spent it on making non necessary upgrades and maintenance to ensure I have a totally sorted car that will last a long time.

I was under the impression that the M400 was a stiffer ride as it is more track focused?

Hi verba i live 15 min from london and drive in 3 times a week in my M400 never had a prob its nicer in the dry but its very good in the wet once you warm the tyres.(mich pilot cup sport) i have more track day tyres than road on mine so have to be a little careful ive owned her 3wks and so far she been great,

Yes far fewer were made in comparison with the number of 3R's.

Hence the emphasis on cold.

Any tyre change will affect a vehicles handling.
Stiffer sidewalls = more precise at the cost of being less forgiving.
Softer sidewalls = better for wet at the cost of being less precise.
Then you have compounds, size, aspect ratios etc,etc,
Corsas were fitted for a good reason.
