Ok all new to an all inclusive deal, so have actually how much real money do you actually need. I was thinking about a couple of meals out and a bit of shopping, maybe a few beers. But that was it. Am I right, or it is that you get bored of the food and go other places?

Any comments from people who have been on an all inclusive would be great?

Cheers,
Caroline

As per previous poster depends where you going and what you want to do..

Just come back from all inclusive in Egypt a few weeks back, and spent around 250 per person extra on top of the all inclusive.

This included -

Tips
airport taxes
excursions
a few gifts etc
and some room service..

IMHO if you go all inclusive you have to expect to be getting bored with the food and drink towards the end. The upside is the fixed price; mediocrity and poor value is the ultimate price you pay.

Just staying at the hotel, bugger all apart from tips and the like. Tips depend on the country, Tunisia around a tenner a day, maybe.

Add excursions, trips and the like.

Similar outcome if you shag the locals.

one tip I should have done myself is as I like decent spirits, take some out just in case the local stuff is not good.

I've been on loads of all inclusive holidays. Just soft drinks by the pool seems to cover the cost of the holiday for me. Been to some incredible places, all local and internationnal drinks free, silver service for dinner and also some places I wouldn't put my dog. I guess it depends where you are going and how much you are spending and also what your expectations are.

If you assume basic buffet food all day and as many beers as you can drink you won't be dissapointed. If the hotel entertainment is good you will be happy to sit supping for the evening. Always nice to get out and about though, try the local bars, restaurants and entertainment.

I guess what I'm trying to say is as little or as much as you want to.

Good point, duty free should be raided on the way out ;-)

Local wines and spirits in Tunisia are vile. Utterly vile. You can tell they are a muslim country, but they are even worse than Egypt and Turkey for local spirits.

Thanks everyone for all your comments, they have been very helpful.

I have been told that hotels exchange money without commission, so take a little bit of currenncy and then exchange little and often. Is that really the case? To be honest I have been doing what my parents did back when I was a nipper, and exchange a lot at once because commission is rubbish in the country. But it could be that things like that has changed a lot now.

cheers,
Caroline

Just back from 1 week in Tunisia all inclusive (Hammamett)

Hardly spent anything, but mainly because we only saw a couple of decent restaurants and they were totally empty so did not venture in.

Tipping is a big thing in Tunisia, as is being hassled to go into every shop. We spent 100euros but the hotel food was good and we were only there for 1 week. we did a day trip and ate out and bought a few bits.... and tipped the good service in the hotel

Another things I found out yesterday, is that the currency is closed. So I shouldn't have been able to get any money out, from outside of the country. Anyway I got some for tips now when I do get there. Cheers for everyones help and comments.
