Land Rover sell 11,000 cars in March, more than in any month in their entire history. Is this a LR specific success story or representative of the economy as a whole ?

Dont tell Winky and Darling, More Land rovers means more pollution and gas guzzlers! i personally think that many people arent too worried about spending money on brand new cars now then they were say two or three years ago.

Congratulations to Land Rover and two fingers up to Labours green stealh taxes.

200bn of quantitative easing .. record low interest rates .. it wasn't that difficult to engineer a boom, surely? Either that, or company directors are maxing out their company cars for one last blast!

I reckon it was because of the terrible winter. We went to look at a Disco4 a few weeks back and there was no way of getting a test drive - they were all sold out.

I also notice a number of European based plant & machinery dealers advertising unused '09 spec JLR cars; the (now old) Jag XJ and pre-facelift Range Rover Sports 7 Disco 3s.

I think a lot of LR buyers were also getting in before the new 'showroom tax' hit.

The £1.5 billion paid by Tata for Jag and Land Rover may turn out to be a bargain after all.

It's purely down to the new showroom tax, my parents bought a Land Rover Discovery a few days back but made it clear that if the order did not come in before April that they would not be purchasing a new vehicle.

The sales chappy commented that everyone purchasing a new LR has made it clear that they're only doing it in February/March to avoid the showroom tax, he's expecting a job loss in the near future frown

Also it snowed this year so people are probably panic buying 4x4's so they can survive, at least I've seen a fair few turning up recently
