Is it the done thing to email your interviewer to find out why you didn't get the job?

I'm getting a little tired of the default, "he interviewed well, but isn't experienced enough" response from the agencies which seems to have come from some sort of manual, such is its consistency amongst employers, or more likely their HR departments.

It may be sour grapes, but I have my suspicions that 'lack of experience' is a quick and easy excuse, when really I could well do with the real answer in order to address any issues I'm not aware of.

Hi to be honest your well within reason to ask for a more personal resoponse to your interview. Most places use the geric reply as most candidates want a yes or no answer and leave it at that. Also by enquiring you will look more switched on and interested in personal development. Dont delay email them. Good luck

indeed, go ahead and e-mail them asking for some pearsonal feedback so you may improve in the future. You should get some if the interviewer is decent.

Ask first at the end of the interview if they have any reservations, or comments to make. You could email, but I would always phone if at all possible. You can tell so much more by someone's instant reaction than you can by an email.
