....received a mail in my inbox inviting me to subscribe for a year free to the Trackdriver magazine...there seem to be no catches - has anyone come across it before?

Yes it used to be Circuit Driver and went bust (I think) I used to subscribe to it. It had a few interesting articles and a track day diary at the back.

The link you posted has a free subs offer, so I've filled it out to give it a second chance.

Circuit Driver went bust a while ago. Triple C mag then became more track focused which was then relaunched as Track & Race Cars which carried the track day diary & went bust last year. Loads of people had big problems with their T & R Cs subscriptions re never receiving them on time.

I am not clever enough to do a link but is was launched in March 2008 and there were posts about it the Track Day section on here dated 8th April 2008. It got negative comments.

Guys,

Just to clear up any confusion here;

Track Driver is an entirely separate publication, by entirely separate people, to the previous attempt in the same name. Similarly Track Driver is entirely separate to Track and Race Car Magazine and its directors. They do not share companies or indeed directors.

Circuit Driver magazine was sold/transferred from Mark Hales to the same stable as Track and Race Car Magazine some time before it closed. Mark was only ever a contributor to Track and Race Car Magazine, not a director. John Hayman, the Launch Editor of the new Track Driver, was also only a contributor to Track and Race Car and like a number of people lost out when they closed the doors.

Through it all however Mark retained ownership of the Circuit and Track Driver domain and magazine titles, and so it was decided that although there was some baggage around it, it was rather a good title and should not be wasted. The good outweighed the bad.

Hopefully it's thus clear that this is an entirely different initiative, with entirely different individuals at the helm to that which has gone before.

A magazine makes money primarily from advertising revenue rather than shelf cost, and after considerable thought the investment in offering a launch free subscription offer provided the best return for both readers and advertisers of the many options available.

Really hope that's clear - this is a genuine funded launch offer for a genuine magazine which is being compiled right now. Take up has been significant already.

If anyone would like further clarification of how utterly distinct this magazine is from that referred to here, please email info@trackdriver.com..

Sincerely,

Stacy

Excellent news, full support here smile

Anyone know what happened to the TRC team? I know a number of people who have tried to get in touch but to no avail

I'm pleased to say take up has been really really strong, thanks for your support.

Keith W works for Stand21 at the Brands Hatch shop now I believe.

I've no idea on Andrew B I'm afraid.

They were the only two directors.
