I have recently purchased a 993 and I would like to change the rev counter as the digital display appears not to be working. Does anyone know how to remove the unit from the dash? Thanks in advance.

I think they just pull out. Cover the tip of a screwdriver with tape (to protect your dash) and just lever out. I think it is that simple.

UV thanks for your thoughts. I was a bit concerned that I ended up ruining the dash by pulling away at it but I will give it a go and see what happens. Do you have any experience with a company called South Bound as I was considering getting the whole car re trimmed in leather. Do you think it would add any value to car? I am fairly new to the Porsche scene so any advise is greatly appreciated. Thansk.

Southbound has a very good reputation. So much so, you'll struggle to get them to look at your car until after June/July.

I actually have my car booked in for next weekend to have the fronts of my front seats recovered. I'm expecting good things but will let you know details after the event.

I booked the car in yesterday and the first available slot was the 10th June! Business must be good!

Bosshog - how much do they charge for seat facings? My Rover needs some new cloth where there's a cigarette burn. Bagsy first day of August!

Dom, thinking of someone else???!!

- For the dials you don't need a screw driver, just use you hands. The best way is to tune/twist the dial as you pull. It feels like it'll never move, but give it a bit of elbow grease and it'll just pop out.

Sorry bosshog - must be that 993 TT of yours on my brain... remember to keep me informed as to its availability, I nearly have a huge wad of cash from the building soc ;-)

I actually meant UV - another 911 Turbo driver. Sorry for the confusion, and if UV is reading, please let me know about retrim costs.

Cheers

I can't remember exactly but it's under a grand. I think it's about £800. They use all OE materials. As I recall new carpets are about £1000.

Dom, surely it was a big fat cigar not a poncy cig. that did the damage

LOL

I forgot about the cigar! Bit of a rare treat 'cos the Crazy bear sells Montecristos.

Not bad price, but it is cheaper for me to get some second hand sports seats for Rover 200/400 from breakers for 150 quid a pair, as I don't need an exact match re cloth etc. I was looking into Metro seats (cheers Ken if you are reading), but they are a different design (narrower) despite having same runner width.

How sad am I, tarting up my second car? Already got a set of Turbo Coupe alloys for 150 quid for 5, brand new Pirellis on them! Oh, and I have a spare engine in Dad's garage - cost me all of 200 quid.

Thank you kindly - useful info for all, even though the Rover doesn't deserve it ;-)

Bosshog thanks for the info. It took some elbow grease but I have now replaced the unit and everything looks good. Thanks.

UV, Did you get your car back from South Bound yet? Are you happy with the new seats?
