It's that time of year again... My Orange contract is up for renewal and I've got the option of upgrading my C902 for something newer and I wondered if the tech-savvy of PH have any suggestions?

I don't really bother with things like e-mail, web browsing or GPS, so basically I'm looking for a tough phone with decent battery life and the like. That said, a good MP3 player and any other toys to keep me amused are always good (I travel quite a lot), as is a decent camera.

The guy at the phone company suggested a Nokia 6700. Any other thoughts?

Many thanks. smile

I've had the Nokia X6 for a couple of weeks now. Brilliant phone - does anything I could want it to do. It even makes and receives calls!

Nokia E72 , good camera 5mp , qwerty keyboard for easier texts . Might have too many fearures for you though if you dont want web / email etc. Small, well slim at least , comes with a leather pouch. Good mp3 / radio sound through the supplied earphones . They sound a lot crisper and have more bass than anything I've had so far.

I've recently had the Satio (the stills version of the Vivaz) and it's been brilliant. Easy to use, stable, corking camera, great music player. Only issue has been Vodafone's pathetic excuse for an App Store.

Had my Vivaz for 2 days, hated it. Sold it within 2 days.

The main reason I hated it, was that the interface seemed so clunky compared to my current SE W995.

Just not smooth and the touch creen was resitive, not capacitive so really needed to be pressed quite firmly.

Only my opinion, of course.

I'm now holding out for the X10 Mini pro being released on 24th May

I was going to go for a Vivaz myself but read a few bad reviews so steered clear. frown

I got a Vivaz 2 weeks ago (it replaced a SE C905), it is so much smaller smile The other half should get there X10 today so will be interesting to compare.

The touch screen was akward at first but by the first week I had it sussed. The problems I have always found (with phones)is the bluetooth not always working, but so far I have connected to my laptop, BMW, Jag and Parrot all with no problems. I leave the bluetooth on all the time and battery still lasts 4 to 5 days!

I asked this very question in the o2 shop regarding "bad reviews" & software problems etc & the manager assured me that not 1 Vivaz had ben returned to any o2 shop that he was aware of where as the Satio has been plauged with problems apparently. I did how ever return to the shop this morning with a broken Palm Pre that my girlfriend bought yesterday & apparently the phone was "corrupt" due to the battery running flat whilst trying to automatically update itself, so not a good start for that phone but she was given another 1 so fingers crossed. I am so far happy with the Vivaz but do agree that there will always be better phones out there.

the Vivaz only hit the O2 stores shelves on the 22nd March so early days yet, so the salesperson was probably not lying to you

Cheers for that link y2, interesting read. thumbup

I did get rather a good deal. 600 mins to any network, unlimited txts & unlimited internet all for £25 a month, 18 month contract. Would normally cost £40 a month for that, but i got it for £25 for loyalty apparently. biggrin

It's the only option. The Mrs has an android Hero thing. Rubbish. iPhone is streets ahead.
