Another tyre question

I've got 18" spider wheels on mine with 225/35/18 tyres on the front. I've heard of people putting 235/35/18's on. This would IMHO look better as the 225's seem to be stretched on.
Is this possible without any mods?
Are there any fouling issues?

Yes, the 235's fit more "square" on the rim, Spiders are 8.5" wide. HTH

Hi Poledriver,

Mmmmm just one thing to look out for. Ttmr and Dave 500, who have thumbed-up the change in size, are both owners of "Series II" models and their interior wheel arches may be of a different capacity to yours.

Not trrying to worry anyone (or talk bks for that matter) but I think there are a great deal of manufacturing tolerance differences on these cars and a model change (especially with 'LW' classification) may produce a quantifiable difference.

I agree, 235/40 would be a tight fit on my car (2000/W). 225/40 leaves about 13mm between rear edge of tyre and vertical part of the wheel arch. 225/40 also protects the rim better and looks a better fit than the oem 225/35, no need to go to 235 imo.

235/35/18 for normal road driving
225/40/17 for track tyres
