Evening all,

I need to pick up an all in one printer - it must be wireless and have a sheet feeder for the scanner. Faxing is not important at all.

Seen a few around the £50 mark including an HP and a Dell. Any suggestions or recommmendations?

Thanks

Ditto. I need one as well and has to work with Windows 7.

I've just got an HP C4780 and am very impressed with it so far. It has WiFi support and was very easy to set up, both our Ubuntu laptops picked it up straight away with no driver issues. It is connected to our desktop PC running Windows Vista, again the drivers installed with no issues. It scans and photocopies stuff very quickly and accurately and the print outs are good. I got it from Amazon for just under £60.

Edit: Just seen your 'sheet feeder' requirement, mine doesn't have that but it is very easy to use the flatbed scanner.

Do NOT get an hp printer. They are great at big office machines but poo at home machines. Their ink is described by some as black gold as cartridges are horrifically expensive. Get yourself a brother or xerox . I also foolishly bought an all in one which broke within a year. Now have a brother and works faultlessly.

HP all in ones are st. Printer ink last 5 mins and costs 5 x as much as others, and the scanners last about 6 months before they fail. I had hp psc950, scanner failed, took it back got a new one 6 months later scanner failed, took it back got a new one and six months later scanner failed again, took it back and demanded to change for an Epson RX685 which has worked faultlessly for 2 years.

Canon Pixma MX700

Not wireless, but has an ethernet port and is a fantastic device. I've been using this for about a year and it's not let me down once.

I guess I should send mine back now then before it bankrupts me and stops scanning.

Thanks for all the advice. I am veering towards either a Brother as I beleive they do a great machine at around £80 or a Canon simply as I have had loads of their kit over the years and it has always performed perfectly, although that cameras.

Interesting the views on HP - my all-in-one is an HP which is about 4 years old. I don't use it much and so I do get issues with the ink sometimes and the supplies are very costly for what they are but having said that, four years of service and it works fine. Considering it spent the first 6 months of it's life in a damp garage in an open box I was amazed it worked at all. I do hear though that they are no longer as well made as they had been.

Keep the suggestions coming though please and many thanks for all your posts so far.

Something like this should do the trick for you...

I have the bigger brother version of this and it gets used quite heavily day to day and doesn't give me any grief.

HP are great if you don't use them a lot (ie the majority of home users), as the print head is in the cartridge. This means the cartridges tend to cost more than the competition, but it tends to be the pring heads that get gummed up if you don't use a printer often, so you can cheaply replace them on an HP.
