just been asked via telephone if I would vote for......
Discussion
Mr. W..... a prospective labour candidate. I asked what his policies were with regards to the continuing battering of the motor car, petrol prices road charging etc.
'Well I don't know what his policies are on that matter.' She said.
'Why not' said I, 'surely you should know.'
There followed a very long pause.
'I know he wants to protect the environment from car fumes.'
'That’s a load of bull.' I said. 'You have been brainwashed by tv.'
A slight slanging match ensued.
I think you can guess the rest of the conversation.
If they are going to canvass, surely they should know what the candidates policies are.

Christ if anyone rang me up to ask if I was going to vote Liarbour they'd have a very expensive phone bill. I'd just spend twenty minutes gut laughing before telling them to go stick a dagger up their strap.
I say play along, keep them occupied. Pretend to be a floating voter and let them waffle on endlessly before finally telling them that you think Gordon is a prize
, Labour are Satan's own disciples here on earth and that you intend to vote for anyone but their man/woman.Stops them from spending their time on somebody who really could be turned to the dark side...

I had the Green Party knocking on my door the other day. Had to point to the two ancient gas guzzlers on the drive, trackday helmet hanging up in the hallway etc. for him to get the idea.
It would have been even better if you answered the door holding a burning piece of plastic...Galsia said:

It would have been even better if you answered the door holding a burning piece of plastic...Unfortunatly, my uncle is standing as a Green Party candidate.
Fortunately it is is a constituency where a shadow cabinet Tory currently holds the position. I think the country is safe from his drivel.

It would have been even better if you answered the door holding a burning piece of plastic...It's just like trying to get Jehovah's Witnesses to explain dinosaurs.

All you need to do is ask the caller to give you one good reason why you should vote for the candidate. Soon be gone then.....................'Well I don't know what his policies are on that matter.' She said.
