Learn new words and increase your brainpower? No, fk it, let's make it simpler.

The rules of word game Scrabble are being changed for the first time in its history to allow the use of proper nouns, games company Mattel has said.
Place names, people's names and company names or brands will now count.

How the heck can you have names in there?
You wouldn't want to play your Polish mates for sure.

Exactly what we were saying last night. Think how many footballers etc with daft names there are.

Move along, nothing to see here.

Some marketing exec at Mattel has just earned his annual bonus by putting Scrabble on the front pages, and got it discussed online all over the place.

Has the board changed? No.
Have the letters changed? No.
Do you have to change how you play the game? No.
Has competition Scrabble changed? No.

If you buy a new Scrabble set (as opposed to Scrabble Classic, I assume) it will have a different paragraph in a little booklet nobody reads anyway...

yes it's only the rules that have changed, so you can play the game how you like.
Marketing ploy.

And there will be new sets available to link up with the PR they have generated - 'NEW' Scrabble or 'New for 2010' or maybe even 'Beginners Scrabble'. And for the less observant buyer, they will probably go for the newer product at an infated price.

Well done Mattel - good marketing there...!

Any doubt was removed when the next word the computer offered was 'f*ckers', which it defined as 'a slang word for chavs'.
As if that wasn't bad enough, it received a triple score and won the game for the character, whose name was Camilla
