Anybody catch it last night?

Quite an interesting format (voiceover in a corporate style suggesting that the media/celebrity culture was a corporate strategy).

Some fairly shocking but perhaps unexpected secret recordings showing national newspapers breaching medical record laws, publishing stories without checking facts, copying and pasting from PR releases. One guy was actually hiring a rent-a-mob crowd to protest at an event they had organisaed to get publicitly. Showed editors saying how scared they were on the PCC, when in fact staff saw them as tame lap dogs, and the rise of showbiz editors to positions of power within the wider media.

Showed parents in a shopping centre prepared to let their kids screen test for a new TV programme about baby boozers or going to a slaugher house just to be on the TV and celebrity, and celebrity PA job applicants willing to buy drugs and fix up under age prostitutes if their new boss asked for it.

Academics and more mainstraem journalists appeared, outlining the strategies used to addict people and how we are biolgically disposed to follow anybody who other follow and buy things they endorse. Even if we resist they unconsciously indoctrinate us. Even had a go at Geldoff, suggesting that the 2005 concerts distracted from the Make Poverty History march which had been planned for some time and was overshadopwed by them having the concert on the same day, and that many of the contributors gained considerably personally from increased record sales and had not one bit of impact.

A very different take on events, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Twas rather good. Make in similar style to the Adam Curtis documentarys, but couldnt see his name anywhere in the credits.
I hadnt thought about the odd appearance of Live8 at the same time as the G8 Gleneagles before.

A thought provoking and well made film.

More4
They don't seem to repeat much, so online worth a look.

Can't comment on the programme yet as it's on the recorder.
