My passenger side mirror has stopped dipping when I engage reverse.

It moves when I adjust the mirror using the electric control, so the mirror works.

I've checked the fuse diagram and can't see any reference to the reversing connection. There is a fuse for the mirror itself.

Can anybody tell me if I can fix this myself or will I have to take it to the dealer. It's got a warranty, so it's not a problem, but it's inconvenient and I don't like them. I've had cars come back with dents and scracthes from more than one dealer, in the recent past, and I've lost faith.

If its the same as the E46, make sure that the adjuster selector switch is clicked to the right

Ah yes, so it is!

Still don't get the logic though.

Click to the right if you want it to dip to make parallel parking easier

Click to the left if you don't want it to dip to make parking in a garage easier.

One of the best features of modern car design (not just BMW) IMO

Why? Surely raising the mirror would just make life a right pain in the arse
