Rally Show - Chatsworth - 5/6 June

So, having just realised that SWMBO and darling daughter are away in Greece, has anyone been to the Rally Show at Chatsworth ?

Any good ??

Saw some of last year's one on Motors TV and the range of cars looked interesting, but it's a bit of a trot so would be good to know if it's worth the journey.

Not sure where you are and if you could persuade your other half and daughter but i'd say you'd be better off going to the rally stage at Goodwood FOS for a day . That said the Rally Show looks quite good.

I've seen the rally stage at the FOS and it is indeed excellent in terms of the cars and your ability to get close to them.

I'm down in deepest, darkest Essex so a trip to Chatsworth is a bit of a trot, hence the question. And if the weather looked like it was going to be anything like last year I suspect I'd be giving it a miss !

Would have gone last year but it was the most expensive day out ever.

Are the prices more reasonable this year?

I went the year before last - weather was gorgeous.

It was a decent day out but slightly expensive. You get to get very close to the cars and drivers and I easily spent a day lazing around watching various ages of rally cars whizz around.

Excellent all round day, lots to see and do, watch group B cars on full chat. Go round the rally garages and actually talk to the
drivers. Very close to the action.

I have been the last 2 years. Last year was a wash out - rubbish weather and VERY expensive. Overall its a bit rubbish - a few great cars going for it but mostly it isnt that good an event. I wont be going again even though I only live 2 miles away ! (unless prices down and/or the quality and content of the event is improved).

Not sure why you would think £17.50 ticket bought in advance or £20 on the day is expensive, kids under 16 are free. The rubbish weather from last year well thats the Uk weather for you. I have been the last 3 years I go with the Lancia car club so its a full weekend pass, and a chance to tootle around the stage in your own car. There are some great opportunities for chatting with drivers, have a wander around the displays you can have a good nosey at the cars without someone ripping your head off. Ive just priced up a day at Alton towers, I know where I would rather be

I was talking what I paid last year. Last year an adult ticket was £24. I dont recall kids getting in for free. I am sure I paid £40 or more for me and my 9 and 7 yr old. If its cheaper this year then thats good news albeit you need to really really be into rallying to enjoy (regardless of price) as it isnt very exciting, interesting etc if you stay for more than an hour. IMHO (and that of many people on the web last year).

The year before when the weather was absolutly gorgeous made it a much better day.

I still thught it was a bit expensive as there wasn't *thats* much other stuff there.

I think it could become a really really good event.

Its great if you do just want to sit in the sun and watch cars go past very very close to you.

But I think you do need the weather - a price drop would be welcomed too.

Got the 2010 prices from the Chatsworth site, at the end of the day its not everyones cup of tea, my wife would hate it. Its not like the festival of speed, but its early days for them really, plus a major recession keeps the traders away. In a way Im happy that its not packed out to the gunnels. I love rallying and rally cars so it suits me.
