Tell me its not true

All this drivel written about petrol is hysterical. For standard unleaded - IT IS ALL THE SAME STUFF!!!!
I used to work very near a refinery. Hundreds of tankers would pass up and down every single day. We'd get BP, Total, Tescos, Q8, Murco, Sainsburys to name but a few. The tankers queue up, and go to the next "pump" to fill up. Do you really think that they can flick a switch a take their choice of 20+ different "brands" of petrol? Of course not! The petrol is refined into a type, with standard 95 RON unleaded being one of them. Obviously, specific petrols, such as Optimax, are made to a different formula.

Petrol quite possibly might be the same but a friend of mine, who was a Tanker driver, told me that certain firms wouldn't pay for the tanker to be steam cleaned between loads so one day you might be carrying creosote and the next petrol !This was more or less confirmed when I had a V8 BMW start to run badly, when the dealer took the plugs out they were green!Even though Fina were a big sponsor of BMW motorsport at the time I was told never to use Fina again.

Additives are also generally added after the fuel is taken from the depot.
My brother has done extensive reseach, based on filling up at particular petrol stations, based on brand, for several weeks (as a driving instructor, he does up to 1500 miles a week) and subsequently does not use supermarkets, and leans toward Shell/BP diesel.

I love this, because the tankers go to the same refinery it must all be the same fuel!
Me and my mates go to the same bar but I get Guiness and they get Lager, and I can tell they are different by the colour!
