Scafell pike - places to stay?
Discussion
I've been given the task of arranging a stag weekend for a mate.
He fancies a day walking up and down scafell pike.
Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay?
I was thinking of maybe even camping the night before and then when we've finished making our way to a place near-ish that would have a decent pub where we can stay and have a good few bears etc.
Probably be a group of 6-10 of us.
Anyne done anything similar with a reasonable level of success?

If there's that many book out an entire room at one of the YHA's
Stayed at Patterdale the other weekend for Helvellyn/Catstye Cam, there are 8 bunks per room, ridiculously cheap.

Obvious place to stay for Scafell is the Great Langdale campsite. Easy access to the hills, good pub at the Old (and New) Dungeon Ghyll and if you don't fancy camping they do have a bunkhouse (at the pub, not the campsite).
Not sure if the Wasdale Head Inn do accommodation still - they are at the foot of the shortest route up Scafell Pike, I've done it in 2 hours top and back from there as a fell run. Only problem with that location is it is very remote as the only access is from the South West.
Other options are hotels/campsites in Borrowdale and perhaps along towards Seatoller (wettest village in the UK...) and approach Scafell from the north.
Personally, for a stag party in the lakes, I'd head for Langdale/Elterwater/Ambleside depending on how rural/urban you want. Loads of cottages to book too (Google...)
