Zeebrugge Ferry Cancelation

Just had a phone call today from P & O advising that my return ferry (on Monday 14th June) from Zeebrugge to Hull has been cancelled. They have transferred my booking onto the Rotterdam - Hull route on the same night.

According to Via Michelin this means an extra 100+ miles and a few extra euros on road tolls. Any one else know about this?

Yeah...our group wanted to come back on that crossing!! Booked to go out Hull - Zeebrugge on Weds night but can't get back due to the cancellation on Monday night and the Rotterdam crossing is now full so can't get on that so having to come back via the tunnel!!

Only good news is that the ferry leaves @ 2100hrs which means we have another 2 hours to get to the port.

It's only the Monday night crossing AFAIK.....essential ship maintenance was the excuse we were told by our ticket agent!!

What a day to cancel...they must have lost a shed load of biz!!

Not sure if it's a 1 off. I was told that the ship is going into dry dock for repairs/maintenance - doesn't sound like a 1 day event to me.

I was told the delays are from the 13th - 20th June

The Rotterdam ship is bigger and better if it is any consolation.

I emailed customer services yesterday (Thursday) asking for compensation as the increased costs of fuel /tolls were a direct consequence of their decision. I received a response stating that they would not compensate but I could cancel if I wanted. Had I known this when I booked in December, I might have been able to obtain a cost effective alternative but 5 months down the line, it's unlikely to happen. Really cheesed off with P & O!

Looking at the P&O website it is the Monday night that is OK, and then not the Tuesday, then every other day for that week. This confirmed by them over the phone, bugger.

Update - P & O have offered to refund the cost of the meals that we had booked on the ferry. This is about £45 which should pay for the tolls and the extra fuel that the X6 will drink on it's way to Rotterdam.
