Sir Alex Ferguson was angered by the behaviour of Bayern Munich's players as Manchester United crashed out of the Champions League on away goals.

Ferguson felt referee Nicola Rizzoli was pressured into showing United defender Rafael his second yellow card.

Bayern got the decisive goal as United played the last 40 minutes with 10 men.

Ferguson said: "The young boy showed a bit of inexperience but they got him sent off, everyone sprinted towards the referee - typical Germans."

I didn't really want utd to lose, but it was well worth it to watch him squirm and make poor excuses. It was a definite second yellow, and he deserved to go off. His punishment for the stupid kicking out in the first half. Maybe he'll learn a little restraint in that area.

I'd say all fiercely competitive men are hypocrites.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

I am fiercely competitive and also a hypocrite.

But it doesn't bother me.

You are surprised.

I would be shocked if any football manager didn't gun for his team, no matter what has happened in the past.

Yes they should.

No problem with Ferguson as a manager, he's the best there has even been, his record speaks for itself, my point was his absurd comments after the game......

Read Fergie's last comment - I think perhaps the comment was meant to be facetious. rolleyes

German Ambassador to make formal complaint

Georg Boomgaarden, German Ambassador to London, is to make a formal complaint to the Foreign Office today about Sir Alex Ferguson’s remarks after last night’s match against Bayern Munich. Boomgaarden, who was at the game, was furious over Ferguson’s suggestion that the German team conspired to get Rafael sent off and that this was (to use Ferguson’s words) “typical of Germans”.

“Germans are well known for their sportsmanship” he said “and this slur is completely unwarranted. A German would have congratulated the winning team, if the result had been the other way round. He (Ferguson) is a bad loser and resorts to crude stereotypes to deflect attention away from his own player’s misdemeanours. In any case, the player could easily have been sent off for the original offence.”

A spokesman for German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, supported the envoy’s actions. “Great Britain and Germany are friends and allies now. We work together closely at the heart of Europe and we strongly support this action.” The spokesman then muttered darkly “Old Trafford hasn’t moved since May 1941. We know exactly where it is.”

This fking angers me. Roberto Martinez has been charged by the FA for 'improper conduct' after he critisised the referee for making a wrong decision, which is true - the ref made a shocking decision.

Now the red-cheeked, injury time-loving prick makes a somewhat racist remark and gets away with it.

It's not just the gum-chewing pillock that angers me, it's the soft FA/Uefa/whoever being too scared of him. Grow a set FA/Uefa/whoever.

...and my point was a thinly veiled joke.

Fergie is like that, and he likes his players like that. Even during his Aberdeen days, his team was famous for constantly hounding referees. Willie Miller was the main culprit.

What would you like the FA to do about comments made after a UEFA Champions League fixture confused
