Main Beam lamp

Does anyone have a guide on how to replace the main beam lamp next to the grille?

Take the elastic band off, unplug old lamp, plug in new Curse & swear getting the band back over the lamp then do it again as the lamp isn't straight !!!

It can be a pain depending on the how the band wants to play


Heat/lube might be needed although i have perspex covers that lip under mine that make it more of a pain

I take the whole unit off the car . . 3 wings nuts whic are also the adjusters, the unit is spring loaded. Best to mark the position of the beam on the garage wall, then undo the 3 plastic wing nuts and remove the unit. Ease off rubber band and put in a bowl of boiling water. Orientate the new unit into the ring correctly (will only fit one way). After a few minutes of heating then stretch the band over the assembly and put back onto car. Turn on and check alignment and adjust wing nut's accordingly to get back to where it was before.

Yes, for such a simple job it can be a b****r. I managed to replace one unit with a broken glass by just removing/replacing the rubber band, but the other times I've taken the whole unit out because I couldn't get the band back on without serious danger of breaking the new unit!
