Anyone know why after removing the reversing light switch on the side of the G50 (to clean and inspect after I thought I found a leak from it) I now find that the reversing lights are on all the time?
It's in a 911 964 btw.

Pete have you broken your 911 already.. It's in a 911 964 btw.
Pete
thought it would come with warranty or do track days effect it???

ok...any reverse switch is just an on off switch...
if they are like a normal reversing switch (2 wires) with the switch out of the car and connected does the reverse lights still stay on?? should do as plunger is out....
what happens if you push the plunger in does the lights go off?? if so the switch is ok except one last check... push the plunger in and ground the switch against the housing(it might be earthing out) if lights are still off then there is a problem where the plunger is not being pushing in when reverse is being selected...and that my friend I cant help with as i dont know a g50 inside....
if light are on with plunger in then you need a new switch..

Thanks chaps. The 'plunger' is still inside, but i'm unsure if i may have trapped it against the face of the switch and not into the little recess.
Dom, this is not the GT3, it's my daily slag 964 track car. The warranty would have run out in 1996!!
Does anyone know if you can take the switch out of an oil filled box in situ?
