i live midway between the two, and my chim 500 is due for 54000 service. would anyone like to make positive comments about either to help me choose? has anyone actually tried both? all e-mails welcome. from comments on other threads i believe they are both good places so no negative comments required, just a quick gold star from your experiences.

Cheers, Dean.

Not tried Austec but had good service and assistance from Peninsular on both cars. Chim is with them as I type - for a service and some other TLC.

Totally unbiased view as I've never been to either, but from reading the forums for the past year they both seem to be equals of the highest standing - just wish one of em was up North

Probably no help whatsoever but hey ho

Just got my car back from Austec and can't fault the service. Fantastic value, especially considering it includes an hour on the rolling road.

Aah, black magic that is!

I've no experience of Austec but I have used Peninsula for the past two and a half years and have no problem recommending them to anyone. Down to earth people always willing to help.

hi podie, just seen the wbsite on your profile. Do you work for them? If so, what is the PH discount?

Never used Peninsula, but you can't praise Austec enough.

IIRC, Austec are approx £45 per hour compared to the rate of approx £75 charged by a TVR main dealer.

(Paul used to work for TVR.)

No, don't work for them at all... and never seen a discount either!! Wish I had got a discount.. as does my bank manager!

Basically my car was not running quite right and Auestec were the only people who would tune it (chip) to resolve the issues. Living in Essex there are plenty of Ford tuners about, but no one would touch it as it was in a TVR...

In my experience, people are ALWAYS happy to moan, but rarely take the time to praise... which is what I did.

To give you an idea of how I rate them, I'm actually returning there tomorrow to have some further work done.

For the record, I have the same high opinion of David Batty in Compton, nr Guildford.

Peninsula are a main dealer, but don't charge anywhere near £75 per hour. £375 labour to replace camshaft, rockers, 4 brake pads, number plate, & steering UJ. Don't know their rates, but must be half that, at the most.
