RIGHT, SOMEONE UP THERE IS TRYING MY PATIENCE.
If you spotted my post wast week you will see i am having troubles with my trev. while p***ing about with the electrics, the door opener inside won't open the passenger door. its not related to the electrics, feels notchy and mechanical. any clues how to remove the central console around the knob. didn't want to force it.

ok, not sure if the early and late cars are the same on this - my door opener on the inside is mechanical and works on 2 bike cable style wires. To get the central console off there was a screw beneath the leather pad in the little tray at the back of the console. That lifts up with something flat under a corner to reveal a screw. I have also heard that the console can be screwed down the side of the centre near where your left knee sits. mine didnt have these though.
Take off handbrake handles and central door knob - mine unsrews but i believe later cars had a small grub screw. and wiggle free

ah - if yours is a K as well then its a mechanical thing. You say it feels notchy.
basically inside you will find too cables. I expect the passenger side one has snapped as mine did after owning the car about 2 weeks!
if you havent got enough slack you can release it at the other end (lift the carpet behind the passenger seat and you will see it) and pull a little cable through so you can refit the nipple that sits the "other side" of the holder attached to the base of the knob.
I didnt bother removing the console completely - i under the screw at the end and wedged the console in the air with a bottle or something to access it.

same with me - i have no way of locking the car at all from inside.

Thanks for all your inputs.(my knobs missing a button too just for the record, feel kinda inferior now!)
Come on......us without "buttons on knobs" should feel superior.....it's those without a "knob" you should feel sorry for. That is those without TVRs...just to clarify the hole I dug!!!!

Mine had this in the dashboard to the left of the heater dials.. !
