The nanny rang me whilst I was out cycling (I know how decadent) to say that 2 black teenagers were in our front yard touching my Triumph Street Triple. She told them to go away and they did whilst mumbling that they were only looking.

OK in the street but this was on our property in the front bit outside the bay window where there is just enough room for the bike and then a hedge and then the street.

Have to say that she was brave as I have seen the teens skulking around here and they are bigger than me and she is tiny.

Also it's the audacity. Were they not afraid that the owner might be in and happen to be an 18 stone 6ft 4 ins Nazi Skin head.

It was obvious that people were in as the nanny had a nanny friend around and my 3 and her 3 kids were all playing and making a bloomin' racket in the front room overlooking the bike.

Worried that they will be back now to cause some damage. Feckers mad

Want me to pop round and, er, reassure her? <Innocent look>

In the meantime, temporarily park the bike somewhere else?

My only worry is that it is insured for overnight at home on "my drive" so if I parked it in the street nearby it won't be covered, I suppose.

Why must everyone think the worst of "yoofs"?

They will probably just be wanting to have a look.

Not every teenager is a daily mail atypical gang banger.

I know that I should not jump to conclusions but if it is part of the mob who are always hanging around outside (they don't even live in this street but there are some nice flower beds for them to trample on and dump rubbish) they are responsible for most of the car vandalism and all the nicked push bikes around here.

God! I have turned into that old bloke who used to hate us revving our motorbikes in the street when I was a yoof.

No you haven't - you've turned into a grown-up with property, possessions, valuables and general stuff that you'd like to keep.

Your concern is understandable.

Totally understand.

I've had people on my drive when I have been home alone taking a "peek" at the car! lifting the protective cover and we are at the top of a hill, off the main road.

Two large Dobermanns gnashing at their balls until they were off my land seemed to deter them biggrin
