I've currently got a yammaha DSP-E800 which I've had for years, and have been very happy with as it has full filled all my requirements

5.1 surround sound
Links into my stereo amp so I'm using my Hifi speakers, and powers my center and rears, and sends a signal to sub.

Fronts are monitor Audio Silver 5i's powerded by Roksan Kandy 3 amp, with Silver 10i as center, and rears mission 7 ds's with a Dali Suite SWA-12 sub.

With every thing going HD would I benifit of changing my yamaha... and is there anything that does similar..... ie keeps Hifi set-up intact, yet runs on the same speakers

Yamaha don't market an add on processor anymore, but if you buy a Yamaha RXV765 integrated amp
it has front channel pre-outs so you can wire it up to send the L-R signal to your existing
Hi-Fi amp in the same way as you do at the moment.

I was in the same situation. I looked at the Yammy 765 but eventually settled for the Yammy 1065 from Der on here - good price at c£550. Been very pleased with it and it was a significant step up from the E800 as you'd expect.

Is there a way I can wire up a new reciever, and still maintain running my Hifi via the Roksan amp

ie can I run signal from AV amp to stereo amp to power fronts by setting levels on av amp lower for front L & R.... or will this give a crap sound

yes, you need an AV receiver with pre-outs (both the Yammy 765 and 1065 have them). Connect the FL and FR pre-outs to a suitable input on your Roksan and robert is your fathers brother. You can then have your 'proper' hifi for 2 channel and the AV amp will push out the FL and FR for moveies to your Roksan. This is how I run my 1065 with my Cyrus setup.

And what doesn't it do for you now?

Going HD just to have a fancy HD light on the receiver and possibly slightly more clarity really isn't a great reason to change tongue out

Love my E800 and it still does an amzing job with my lyngdorf + ATC front end hooked up, plus allowed me to calibrate my monolith very easily especially as I have a Feedback destroyer going to the sub as the main calibration tool.

If it ain't broke... and all that jazz smile

Well took the advice above, and didn't change it as nothing was broke..... however it has now developed an intermittent no sound to rear left... probably an easy fix for someone who knows what they are looking at......... so today purchased a Yamaha RXV765 for £250, believe me it was hard work finding someone that stocked old model Yamaha AV recievers with pre-outs which was my main consideration... was not looking for this model in specific, but the one the shop had advertised (RVX667) they no longer had.

So be prepared for some questions on set-up, and the cary bit is it only seemed a few months ago I asked the original question yikes
