advice needed - 360 nero
Discussion
Hi Guys,
been looking for a car for a while now, popped down to Autofficina today to check out this 360:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1469679.htm
Does anyone know anything about this car? I spoke to Chris and Pietro down there who were both extremely affable and spent a lot of time with me, even took me out in the car which was a great experience seeing as it was my first time in one!
Basically, I would be stretching myself a bit for this car but the prices of 360's seem to be stronger now than they have been for a couple of years..
Does this seem to be a fair price? Should I be nervous about the colour? I wasn't really considering a black one to begin with but in the flesh it was particularly nice.
I really got the impression that they would be good people to buy from and would give good support. Has anyone dealt with them before?
Also, they will cambelt service it and respray the stone chips at the front. Otherwise it appears to have a full history.
THanks for any pointers.

Im sorry to be short, but if you like it then buy it. Stop worrying about nothing. Are you really going to buy a car or not buy a car on what other people say on this web site. Buying a Ferrari is a great thing to do. Not many people get the oportunity to do. You are obviously good at your job and decision making to make enough money to buy it,why do you need your hand holding now. GO FOR IT. If YOU like it, then get it.

Wow, you average less than 1.5 posts/month over almost 8 years and you stop by to say that...Well, the reason i posted is that in my limited experience i understand that ferrari produce few enough cars that often people will recognise a particular one and may have some knowledge of its history. Especially in this section of pistonheads's forum. I was looking for that and some reassurance that these dealers are well respected, as per my initial reaction.
That is all...
Looks lovely and I think nero works well on the 360. Not fan of the modular wheels. Also that age mileage where it needs lots doing. I bought my 360 at 19k. It had a main dealer invoice for 8k at 18k miles! Just ensure that brakes are good; balljoints are all good; Had a recent clutch. Also check if its got the later F1 ECU which makes the F1 box really quite nice to use.

Yes it has that...How can I check the other things? Just by asking them? I don't really have the expertise to do it myself and how rude would it be to turn up with an independent inspector!
If you are seriously interested in the car just ask them about anything that concerns you!
They are very approachable and honest, I would say an independent inspection would be a waste of
money when buying the car from a dealer like these guys.
I'm sure they will stand by the car as it will have been inspected by themselves.

Black looks good.
Personally prefer the original wheels, but thats all a matter of personal choice and the car looks in good condition from what you can see on the pictures.
When I bought mine from a private seller, I had a full paint inspection done by a professional detailer. Whilst it won't give any mechanical info, it does give a full picture of the car and several hundred points of paint thickness. You can tell instantly if the car has any filler or has been resprayed. For £50 I found it incredibly useful and allowed me to "KNOW" that I had a good, straight car which had been well loved and only had one previous front end respray at a maindealer for stone chips, which confirmed what the owner and history showed.
Barter hard and get a decent price, with a decent warranty etc included.
As said before by someone else, just find out why the service history stops at 2007. It can't have just been sat on a forecourt as it's had 2000 mls put on each year since.
Good luck!

Yes, the Autofficina 360 looks very nice. However, a few negatives about the car that I can see:
- lack of service history from 2007
- the scuderia shields are after market enamel ones
- the seats are manual and not electric (it's always irritated me why some original buyers of a Ferrari want to scrimp on the electric seat options)
I would try and bid them down to the mid 40k. At 50k or even high 40s, I think you can do better. Be patient and don't rush the decision. That particular car has been out on the market for around 3 months now, and no one has bought it yet.
Just my two cents.

Thanks for this, they won't go any lower than 49 though..- lack of service history from 2007

They claim they did another service at 19k on 1/08, which would fill a bit of that gap, and althought they didn't stamp it they will now retrospectively.
I am going to view this car tomorrow as well:

I've been told that this colour is difficult to shift when selling, am I the only person that thinks it's nice? I like the low mileage of this one as well, but I've never driven a manual so don't know if it will suit me. I'll just have to wait and see.
I've heard good things about Simon, as I have about Autofficina now I've looked around.
Decisions, decisions!

Looking at it again- have to say its awesome. Budget for a very good detail of the paint - a liquid gloss black Ferarri looks gorgeous.
It is really growing on me; and a detail would be done immediately if I were to buy it. I agree with your earlier comments about the wheels though, they offered to swap them for the standard 360 wheels from another car but my more-knowedgeable friend jumped in moaning that the split rims were an expensive option and told me I'd be an idiot to do it.Simonfurlonger car looks good once again from 01 to 04 car not serviced yes it did little mileage but the service schedule is min of an annual and someone spending that money on a new car skimping on a small servcie does make you wonder!
Oh and by the way I do like the colour you will love it in the flesh.

I can't understand why people skimp on the annuals either, its only a few hundred quid and will rectify any small issues before they become big expensive problems!
I had the same issue when looking for mine, there were alot of tempting cars which seemed perfect but missing a few services. For me it wasn't worth the risk and waited it out until the right one came along. Don't forget, when you come to sell it any potential buyer will have the same question regarding missing history making it harder to sell - plus you're not a dealer so will take a hammering for it.
Silver with red is nice, but difficult for resale if that worries you.

For what it is worth.. I much prefer the Nero one and can understand why someone who doesn't want to be a sheep and get a rosso one goes for Nero. The only silver ones I tend to see are in the classifieds. Personal taste and all that, but I think the Nero one would be less brave and also more sensible at the same time. By the way... I am a sheep
