was out running earlier, and some of the route is sort of "out in the middle of nowhere" sort of place...anyway, running along minding my own business then this dog starts barking like crazy at me. i carried on running past it, it then shot out of the driveway and started running after me. i just carried on for perhaps another 20 metres or so, and then it starts to go for my legs. "enough is enough" i think to myself. i stop running, flick my leg as if to kick it, dog stops. i turn back and carry on running, dog starts barking again and running after me. starting to piss me off now. so i stop yet again and turn around and start legging it after the dog....cue the dog legs it away from me, looking over its shoulder to see how close i was. i turned back...it didn't follow me this time biggrin that'll fking teach the bd hehe

most people seem scared of dogs which run after you barking...from now on everyone should run after the dog hehe this one at least soon backed down! i found it rather funny... poor little thing!

cue the "you evil " posts hehe

If you run a dog will chase you, as a general rule. In that situation stop, and face the dog. Wait until it backs down, then you can carry on.

You were totally right, if my GSD behaved like that it'd be deemed dangerous. But it's normal behaviour for most jack rats...apparently

That's just common sense, unless one i scared of dogs perhaps. biggrin

I got barked at/chased by some in the past when out cycling.

The collie mutt that belongs to the owner of the workshop business next door to my workshop is a stupid creature, you can walk into their garage and chat away for ages and the dog will ignore you but as you leave the dog will decide that you need to be barked at and have your ankles bitten.

Little sod only did it once to me and as it bit me it had the top of its head slapped, now it slinks off when it sees me.

I tried to explain this technique to the postman but he is not quick enough for it and now he wont get out the van.

I used to have the care of two labradors, one of which used to do this when anyone rode a bike. I used to ride mine around the (private) estate deliberately to wind him up, he would usually catch me in the end because I was laughing too much to be able to stay on the bike.

That's a collie's herding instinct then!! Fine when you're in a group, as soon as you try to leave, it wants you back in.

Suprisingly useful when you've taken half a dozen kids to the park!!

Would depend on the dog, if it was an Alsation I'd rather not.

Sounds a bit like nervous aggression to me.

My dog would chase after anyone on a bike,
I stopped the dog doing it and the solution was actually very simple,

I took the bike off the bloody dog

I actually had a dog run after me when I was on my bike, owner didn't have a clue how to keep it under control - lets just say, it was lucky that I clip in when I ride my bikes, otherwise the dog would have had a foot into the canal!! mad

There's a clue there if you look really hard.

Walkin for 50 yards was a problem?
