Nitro engine won't stay running Help.
Discussion
Hi guys have a Cen GX1 with a 16 Nitro engine in it, now it did run ok on the 2 times I had it going, but as I bought it second hand I had a go at tuning it as it was emptying a tank of fuel in about 7 min (this can't be right can it????) it was litterally running out of the exhaust. Now I came to run it again a few weeks ago and every time I tried to pull start it, there was no sign of life for about the first 5 min and 20 pulls. had the plug out emptied cylinder, dried plug checked it etc. installed and again not much then it fired into life running at I'd say 1/3 throttle and after about 5 seconds just died as if the fuel had been cut off.
Pull, Pull, Pull, nothing repeat, then fired into life, 5 seconds of frantic running and it dies.
Any idea how to reset the needles back to basics as I wonder if I've done something to that set up or have you got any other ideas. It did work well and after use I've used the after run oil as directed. No issues in fuel line, air filter, exhaust line I'm lost hence the needle settings.
Failing that any one wanting to guy a cen gx1 with spare rolling chasis and other stuff???
Thanks in advance
Olly

Are you certain it's fuel running out of the exhaust? I'm sure you already know this but nitros will throw a lot of oil out of there, they're designed to do that.
I'm no expert, I have a 2.5cc Schumacher Nitro 10 that I used to run a few years ago but I would guess that the engine is not getting enough air. It would explain the high rpms when the engine starts, the mixture is too lean so check the intake, clean the filter and if that doesn't fix it, adjust the tuning to richen the mixture.
However, if it is fuel coming from the exhaust, it would suggest the opposite, ie. too rich which will most likely be, as you say, simply a tuning issue.
The other thing to check is to make sure the exhaust is not obstructed by anything, this is unlikely to be the problem but it can stop an engine from running.
Your manual should give the details you need for default tuning, failing that, send an email to the manufacturer.
It's worth perservering, I had initial problems with my car too. In my case it was a starting issue, it turned out that the glow plug was faulty and the batteries I was using were not powerful enough, changing the plug and switching to rechargeable batteries solved the problem.
Good luck!

Thats great thanks I had a look in the manuals I have but there is nothing to do with the actual engine so I'm at a loss. I'll keep going as this thing is really a fun little thing.
As for the discharge from the exhaust it is pretty much neat fuel. to the point that when you pull it over a few times in the same spot from dry it'll start leaving a puddle.
Are there any guid lines on tuning these? I have watched a few you tube vids and I think that may have been my downfall,

Cen have their own forum, here's a thread on carb' settings.

If you still have problems, someone on that forum is sure to be able to help, they have a dedicated technical support section.

Once the carb is set correctly try fitting a brand new plug as these deteriorate quickly. Swap them monthly or so. Also before starting remove the plug, put a drop of fuel on top of piston, reseal plug then start. Also ensure your fuel lines are all ok. Sometimes the re-pressure line to the tank can be a problem area.
