Where on earth do you go for this?
I have spent 10 years working my way up to a senior level in my chosen profession. I work for a well known firm at the top of their game.
However due to personal life circumstances I have the chance to re-evaluate and the possibility of retraining. I simply don't know where to start looking. Of course, there are some jobs I would love to do but in my 30s with 3 small children - there are many things to consider.
Costs of training clearly have to be considered in light of potential earnings.

I'd like to know too, spent about 16 years in IT but gave it up to look after my son but it seems I might be able to get a job again this year if all goes well.
38 and no real IT qualifications and a couple of years out means I need to do something else, I also think a gap of a few years on my CV won't go down well.

Oh joy! The trouble is I am (well let's say I like to think I am) a bright and articulate individual with a wealth of experience but I can also learn pretty much anything quickly.
There is an element of knowing what you would like to do (which I am struggling with) as well as what you would be good at in light of previous experience as well as what fits in with current/future circumstances.

I'm in similar position. I am going through redundancy for the 2nd time in 24 months. There is bugger all work out there for my profession which admittedly is a fairly small niche market. I am looking at the possibilities of contracting but again not a huge amount of R&D done in this country.
So I quite fancy something new, don't know what, happy to retrain, but don't fancy 3 years earning £16k per year to start off with.
