Heater control issues

Evening all.

Had a good run down to Brighton this weekend with the Tam but seem to have developed a fault with the heater controls, your collective wisdom is sought before I start investigating.

The problem is twofold.

The stepper motor controlling the heater flap would appear to be running all the time. It still moves the flap between hot/cold because the air moves from the screen to the face level vents but if you turn the fan to a low speed you can still hear the flap motor running at max hot/cold settings. It stops when you turn (push) the fan off or go into the set-up menu to alter the heater flap position.

I have also noticed that on the led's that indicate the temperature whilst in the hot position the uppermost red light illuminates, when on cold the lowest grren led that illuminates is the 2nd from the bottom.

Secondly, when rotating the fan speed control a number of times today the led's have started to flash and the blower motor pulses in tandem. altering the control stops this and the blower runs as it should at the different speeds.

Ideas most welcome.

Sounds like it could be sensor issue - is there a sensor that detects the flap position?

I've had the last symptom that you described before where the flap seems to get confused as to where it is and oscillates, cutting the blower out whilst it sets itself. It only happened once - as you pointed out, changing the hot/cold mix cleared the 'fault' immediately...
