Morning.

My girlfriend and I drove past a local church whereupon we remarked that there were an abnormal amount of churchgoers assembled around; mostly of a eastern european look. We chatted about why it'd be so, and then thought nothing of it until later she pointed out a news article on her phone about the loss of the prime minister etc due to the air disaster.

Very sad news, and my heart goes out to the families etc, and some considerable admiration goes to those who were attending church to pay their respects - for a nation to be so close to their government is quite astonishing in these days and times.

My questions being are these:

1. Should, god forbid (that it doesn't happen), the entire self serving Labour gravy train and the snot eating one eyed Winky go down in a ball of flames, would we, anyone at all, give a crap?

2. What would happen if it did happen? (Put down those RPG's at the back)

3. If we had a marvellous government, one that we all thought solved all our problems, allowed us to drive V8s at 100mph, and with cheap fuel and lower taxes, would we mourn? What I'm asking is, Could we change the attitudes we have of always be downbeat about 'them'?

4. If that wonderful government disappeared overnight, what's the chances of it being replaced by another wonderful government?

5. Is there such a thing as a 'wonderful government'? I mean, someones always going to be a bit pissed off, right?

Just some thoughts, some which (I know they're cheering me up) may brighten this already sunny Monday morning, but some interesting questions I thought?

As you were biggrin

ps I'm still sodding off to Canada so tongue out

I believe the Polish President was held in very high regard, he had some nationalist tendencies - which always go down well.

The Prime Minister, who really controls the country was not involved, so there is still an effective manager for the state. There is a process in place to replace the president and I believe one of the speakers is stepping up to the role.

I'm not sure what my response would be - as much as I'd like to see Winky et al wiped from the political map, I'm not sure how I'd respond to their sudden and gruesome demise. I think it would be mixed feelings!

Ah, my bad. I stand corrected thumbup

Get your point, which is quite valid, about the humanitarian side of losing of those MPs (the families, the pilots and their crew etc) but, without getting into an argument about the to's and fro's of the war etc, I'm sure there would be plenty of families of soldiers lost in the Iraq/Afgan wars that might disagree with you...

I agree on one hand it would be a party like attitude and on the other a religious fervour (ie there is a god)!

Actually. How does it work having a Prime Minister AND a President? Would it work over here? Would it give a better way of managing the country? Probably best for another thread; however I'm genuinely interested smile

The resulting celebrations would make the Chinese Olympic ceremony look like very small beer indeed.
