Hello to all,

Can you tell me the affects of putting either a 185 or 195 width tyre on the front of a S2 111's??

Or am i talking complete and utter......

So lets get this straight.

Lotus ( the bespoke gods of all car handling ), spend years refining possibly one of the best hadling sportscars you can put on tarmac....... and you wish to change the width of the front tyres??

I think your barmy

The elise is a car that can be tuned to personal taste, wider front tires change the car slightly.

more grip, less understeer, shorter braking distance(slihtly) - standard suspension dosent cope well with it though...Id go 185 max unless you have Nitrons or Lotus Sport Suspension...and be prepared for the arse end to overtake the front more easily when on the limit

That's my point. The car on the normal roads tends to under steer, a lot!

Whilst on the track you can drive through the understeer with confidence and throw the back end out Who in the right mind would want to do this on the open roads.......not me

Further more I beleive the Exige has wider front tyres, is this the case.

the "rimstock" wheels are wider i believe

Understeering is an arse. How do you boys tackle it?

what i mean is, is there another way to avoid it/stop it other than power through?

I think Sinclaires have a camber/tracking setting that reduces understeer ... someone posted something about it but cant remember where.

I'm sure you'll let me know if I'm wrong, but I believe that's one of the things different about the 135r, wider boots at the front to give a bit more bite, that and different gearing make a bit more "track day"

I feel bad calling it sinclaires geo as I'm pretty sure Walshy developed it?

Anyway yeah you can put on wider fronts without changing the rims, but 185 toyos seem the only choice. Thing is they aren't to everyones taste. Could maybe try 185 advans though - dunno why no one has tried it, maybe they are 195 min?

Other option is get the new alloys, and don't put stupid grippy AO48s on. Can probably get away with standard suspension then.

yeah it was a Walshy/sinclaires joint effort.

Apparently Dunlop Sport 9000s in 185 and 225 are meant to be very good - havnt tried them myself though.
