Times is reporting that above a certain speed it won't report your speed - to prevent High Score Tables

I thought most of them just flashed the speed limit if you were speeding and nothing if you weren't. Certainly all the ones I've seen recently do it that way.

Is it just me or does anyone else think the smile/frown face is just another symptom of dumbing down?

Good idea flashing up the speed limit. Utterly stupid to flash how fast you are going as complete muppets will try and get the highest score. But the implicit nanny state 'there's a good boy/girl' smiley/frowny is quite frankly taking the piss

I think I am a bit old for Teletubbie teachings now.

ing idiots.

Someone crashed into one of these on Watford ringroad a few weeks back - most impressive.

I did hear rumours of some of the locals taking their bike plates off and doing a flypast on a local scamera at 150 plus (Cough, keyboard slipped) Four mile straight, one junction two miles away, Scamera hidden under bridge parapet. I know nothing of this of course

Road safety my arse!

Or in the past that they subsequently bring retrospective legislation in to make illegal? - Streaky

We saw one of these portable smiley/frowny things in Oxford a couple of months back (we were on foot at the time!). Just up the road from it, hidden in a small road, was a scamera team in a small van. Now they may have just been checking percentages of traffic over/under the limit, but I couldn't nip across to ask what they were doing because I'd have been flattened by all the frowny traffic (i.e. 99% of vehicles passing). What was that all about? Were they issuing NIPs, or just checking to see whether they'd make any money out of a real scamera at that location?

Ace-T - I agree with you. Patronising twerps!!

A prediction:

drivers will get used to this idea and begin to ignore more and more. Road safety will not worsen (it may even improve to pre-camera levels), however,

revenue camera lovers will say "studies have shown that the new system doesn't work, average speeds have increased, so the cameras will be re-instated."
