Womans soldier wins payout for not doing her job!
Discussion
Heard about this on the Radio 2 this morning...
Words fail me..
Army chiefs face the nightmare prospect of having to consider their soldiers' childcare problems before giving them orders.
The devastating blow follows a successful sex discrimination claim brought by a single mother.
Tilern DeBique, 28, says she was forced to leave the Army because she was expected to be available for duty around the clock.
She was formally disciplined when she failed to appear on parade because she had to look after her daughter.
She was told the Army was a 'war-fighting machine' and 'unsuitable for a single mother who couldn't sort out her childcare arrangements'.
Now she is in line for a payout of at least £100,000 for loss of earnings, injury to feelings and aggravated damages.
The case could have massive implications if other recruits argue that their childcare rights must be considered.

So glad I got out before all this PC b
ks started.
It is ridiculous that you have frontline troops fighting for their lives and there's some f
king WRAC thinking it is Butlins.
She was already working short hours. Wonder how often she stagged on. Wonder if she could pass a BFT - looks too fat even from that little photo. I bet she was a s
t soldier and trades'person' to boot.
This has made me really angry - sorry.

This is bizzare. I am pretty sure that the army provide some form of child care. Perhaps that is only on overseas postings.
It is perfectly sensible to say that if you cant do your job for whatever reason, you are out. I would have prefered to have seen some common sense and had her move to a desk somewhere, so that her occasional absenses would have been less of an issue, at least for a trial period, but I doubt that would work long term as it might in a normal office.
Unfortunatly though she dosnt do a normal job. She joined the army, she knew that it is a commitment, people lives can depend on your actions, and unfortunatly not turning up is simply not an option.

Jesse Jackson would be so proud of her

Beat me to it, wonder if PH's "no such thing as race card" or "minorities are still downtrodden" collective will be posting on this thread, doubtful as this is clear cut proof that the race card is a live and effective tool.

Just imagine this in WW1:
"Right men, we're off over the top to bash Jerry!"
"Where's Jones?"
"Oh, Jones couldn't arrange childcare, so she's not out in the trench today."
Just shows the absurdity of pretending women are equivalent to men for front-line military work.
It's not even the front line stuff - you have to become part of a close knit team, all in it together, going through the same hardships etc..."Right men, we're off over the top to bash Jerry!"

But I bet she's part of a Scaley team that really resent her and are personaly glad she's been binned.
she should have been shipped out and her kids taken into care, or just booted out on her arse with no recompence.
what the hell did she think the army was ?
if this was the US army they would have laughed her out... thats even if the other female soldiers didnt hound her out first.
i bet im fitter than her, and could out perform the slob in every aspect

the government are doing themselves no favours with regard to race relations.. I am even tempted to start a Number 10 petition, hang on though.. would be a total waste of time...
Be interesting to see the numbers though, no political party really wants to talk about this subject. Dr Phibes said:

The solution the army has to this is to bring in some extensionof the rule on permission to marry. After all that was done not just for security but also to limit AWOL and desertion after a Dear John.
Buit thats against someone's human rights I suppose.
