Temperature guage moving erratically

Hello everyone, just returned from a 200 mile round trip in West Wales and noticed that the temp' guage has occasionally started to move up and down of it's own accord. The coolant levels are fine and the fan cuts it just below the white line as normal.

Could it be the yellow connector? It's looking a bit brown these days.

By the way, is the white line 90c, or is 90c horizontal, I've never thought about it before....

Probably the sender or wiring. Readings can go up and down as the gauge is very voltage sensitive but I would expect other symptoms if it was the yellow connector.

90° is the white line.

I dont think its the yellow connector but I would change it if its brown as it will let go in time

Try making off the wire with a new crimp pin at the sender - this solved mine a while back even though it looked pretty much ok - it is quite exposed to the elements.

Could you point me in the general direction of the sender so I can check/re-crimp the wiring?

From memory - as I sadly don't have the S anymore - its on the passenger side screwed into the engine block.

Think thats the oil pressure sender ?

temperature sender is cetral (ish) top front of engine, can post picture tonight if no one else does during course of today.
