M6, wobbly/unstead under harsh acceleration
Discussion
I mentioned this in a different thread but am now concerned enough to open a whole thread for the topic.
I used to have a E60 M5 and have done a lot of launch controls and rolling "m mode" accelrations in that and I think it felt faster and more steady than my M6 does.
Last weekend I had the pleasure of being behind a Corvette z06 just at the point where a temp 50mph limit on a mway ends and NSL starts. Having heard the 'vette few minutes previously when I was further back in traffic I suspected that the corvette driver is likely to floor it, once the 50mph limit ends and was ready, in third gear and m mode on. True enough he has behaved just as I expected and I followed suit.
Though I would like to think I pleasantly surprised the corvette driver (if he even bothered checking his rear view mirrors) by being almost as cloe behind him as before he started, I did note the following: TC came on at the start of acceleration in sunny dry weather. Later on the front of the car seemed like it may have lifted a bit and inspite of driving on a straight smooth road the car was more floating than cutting if you know what I mean. I never noticed it in the M5. something to be concerned about?
P.S. I know this post could have been made a lot shorter but wanted to tell the corvette story too :P

Im sure others will be along soon but could be something simple like tyre pressures?
Have they been checked lately?
Was the road really smooth? Could it have been tramlining? Not sure what else to suggest really other than try it again on a deserted road and see if it happens again. Not sure if they are sensitive to wheel alignment/geometry.

I last checked tyre pressure a month maybe a month and a half ago. will check again.Have they been checked lately?

the TS seemd to have been coming on even when not in m mode and in relatively higher gears for the speed. like second gear when doing 20mph. Servise is due soon, I guess I should mention this.
If you drive your car hard you should be checking them at least once a week realy.
The low pressure monitor is OK but in my experience only really registers once 3/4 bar or so has been lost.
Do the E60's suffer with RTAB problems lke the E46? They will be approaching the age where things are now starting to perish.
Do you have any uneven tyre wear? Allignment could be an issue.

Just checked the tyre pressure and seems you guys were right. I have mistakenly upped the pressure according to how it should be when fully loaded and not just me in the car. It seems to have improved things drammatically but I am still not happy. I still get the TC blips when not expected at all... Will take it in for a check. cheers
