Careful driving for nearly three years, and I get a NIP three months before I get a clean license again!
So, here's the question -
87mph on the M4 near the 2nd Severn Bridge on the 14th Feb; What am I looking at?
When I send off the NIP, do I expect a 3 points and a fine, or a magistrates summons?
It was actually a run to see my ill granddad in hospital, of which I can back up with his documents, but I bet that dosen't wash these days, so what will it be?

In answer to your query I'd expect an offer of 3 points and £60.
Someone I know is waiting for an envelope having passed by a talivan before the toll booths on the way into wales last saturday. Doing 87 clock speed on an empty motorway when he/she spotted the highwayman, braked like mad and is now waiting.......for 14 days plus a few more for postage. Hopefully their speedo significantly overstated the true mph.
Have to say a definite revenue raising zone as opposed to a road safety deployment. Probably motorists excessive braking may lead to more accidents during times of higher traffic congestion.

I've just remembered where it was now, I remember looking in my right wing mirror just before I got on the bridge going to England, it was on the other side of the motorway, up on the bridge, the sneaky bastards.
It takes me back this does, this is what got me into Pistonheads three years ago...

Niel, I'd forget the ill relation thing if I were you. A guy in magistrates court in front of me trid that and they absolutely hammered him because they said he new he was speeding and therefor premeditated. I, on the other hand, said I was daydreaming because of pressure at work to get places quickly and got off really lightly.
CRAIG
When entering Wales on the new Severn crossing there is a bridge over the motorway a few hundred yards before you reach the toll booths. The talivans get you from either direction from that bridge. Further east of this location are police car pull ins on either side of the motorway.
With this mobile scamera location (revenue based) and the treatment of the Rally I now believe the scamera partnerships in southwales are as bad as the one covering the kingdom of Brunstromland in the north.
Companies/Investors, looking at making investments in Wales should bear this in mind if an investment means having key members of staff travelling to or from Wales by car.

Just a thought about vans sitting before the toll booths.
How long before they sit in the 50 and 30 limits approaching the booths on the M6 toll?
No comment as to suitability of these limits or advisability of exceeding them but just a thought.
Cannot recall anywhere else with toll roads having statutory limits which step down towards a toll booth but very willing to be corrected. Sticking to those limits on M6 toll and you feel to be going backwards.
Bit of overkill in my opinion.

FiF
From the SI:
These Regulations impose a maximum speed limit of 50 miles per hour on driving any motor vehicle on the specified lengths of carriageway on the M6 Toll, being the entry and egress to the toll lane areas at Great Wyrley and Weeford Park.
No doubt the Powers that Be in their wisdom anticipated
a crowd would appear to use thgis new wonder, like a Pub with free beer at Stourport, so limit imposed to slow traffic down approaching/leaving the booths and to stop Toad at full wellie running up your chuff?

Bummer.
Depends on what's on your licence already. You'll get the standard offer of 3pts+£60, but you won't be able to accept this offer if you're alredy on 8+ points IIRC and would then have no choice but to visit the nice magistrate.
Sorry that your grandad's been ill and hope he's on the mend.
Sadly doubt that it will make any difference to the powers that be.
Might have been cheaper to hire a private ambulance and get him to visit you.
Clearly another accident blackspot requiring a camera - I don't think so!!!!

Why's that then ? Surely 8+3 < 12, so no problem
Matthew - pondering whether he's facing 3 or 6 ontop of his current 3 ...
Phew.... so I'm looking at the old chestnut of 3 pts and £60.... at least that's a little more swallowable.
Fair enough, I was doing the speed, but as other threads have mentioned, it was another posting on the fringe of a village between a 60 limit and an NSL dual carriageway, and after having passed a stationary gatso not even half a mile before it
