If we cannot laugh at other peoples misfortune then what's the point?

I couldn't feel that way about someone I liked, however I'll admit to rolling on my back and kicking my heels in the air with glee at the misfortune of someone I didn't.

Yes. Why would you be pleased?

Is it a major eff-up as in putting two sugars in your tea rather than one? Or a real eff-up?

Researchers have found that people with low self-esteem are more likely to feel schadenfreude than are people who have high self-esteem, and brain-scanning studies show that schadenfreude is correlated with envy.

There is always one who reads too much into something... could it not be just simply because it is funny, rather than my (his) underlying depression or anxieties?

But you all work for the same company.

What costs them money... costs YOU money.

Be smug maybe but to take pleasure from anothers misfortune...
I wont cost me a penny.

I didn't read too much into anything, hundreds of scientific researchers did.

I just know that if someone in my work place massively screwed something up, the last thing I'd do would be to laugh or take pleasure from it.

OP did ask!

i laugh at peoples fk ups when i don't like them, but if i do like them. the accountant at my part time work place (old guy, miserable as fk all the time) got 2 invoices for something like £43 and £60 from the same company, instead of paying £103, he paid something like £10,300. he got a rather big bking and was told if the money had not been received back within 6 weeks it was coming out of his wages.

the money did eventually come back.

oh how just about everyone laughed. even the MD, because he thinks the guy is a total .

which he is.
