I haven't done this on a Puma / Fiesta, but I would replace the front bushes with Powerflex or equivalent items: http://www.powerflex.co.uk/products/Puma+1997-2001...

Items (3) Front Anti Roll Bar Mounting Bush 16mm and maybe (1) Front Wishbone Lower Front Bush.

I wouldn't go overboard, the Puma is a sweet little machine and was pretty well sorted from the start. Don't be tempted to uprate the rear springs too much, that can just tend to make it more skittish and less flowing. I would consider replacing the dampers, depending on how you feel they are performing. I wouldn't know which to recommend, so leave that for others...

Make sure that the cam belt has been done within the last 5 years or 60,000 miles, £250 to change if it's not, check all suspension as worn rubber mounts or bushes can affect the feel of the car.

Otherwise enjoy! Pumapeople and projectpuma area great sites as well, loads of info to help you out with your purchase and then the ownership!

If you want to make your puma better than it already is then play to its strengths, its handling, make sure you replace the bushes with either oe ford ones or uprate them to powerflex ones, the best way to improve the cars handling is with an omp lower strut brace, cost about £35 and takes 10 mins to fit. The respond well to being lowered about 30mm aswell, the eibach spring kit is the best bet,

Obviously make sure its had a cambelt change and a good service and it should live forever, I've come across puma's with 140k+ on them and there still in good condition.

Keep and eye on the rear arches aswell as they will rust like there's no tomorrow!! Although that can be solved with under seal and cutting the arch liner away from the bodywork slightly

I've had 2 puma's and my girlfriend has one aswell, there great little cars that can shame a lot of bigger stuff in the corners!

I just replaced the Anti-Roll bar link arms on mine. Can not describe what a difference it has made. Completely tightened the car up, very little body roll now and steering feels more precise.

Need to change the anti-roll bar bushes next. Are the powerflex ones worth it?

Yeh, I'd recommend powerflex for all the bushes, I run them on my puma and there great,

Although if you've got non oe ford wishbones then you won't be able to fit powerflex bushes into them, they just don't fit right and fall out.

But if you want the best mod to tighten the car up then the omp lower strut brace is the best £35 you can spend, its the one mod I wouldn't be without on my puma!!
