But credit to the Dad who packed in smoking IMMEDIATELY after realising that, despite smoking outside, it was still doing his son no good.

Its very easy to dismiss what the mother is saying but both myself and mrs plumber think that boy looks too big at 5 for it to be just down to poor diet. The dad that wouldn't give up fags pissed me off though. Did you see the size of the TV? moaning about car fumes, refusing to at least smoke outside! Scum, bet he will be voting labour.

She was a piece of work wasn't she. I think just delighted to be on the telly.

It was very obvious she was giving her kid money knowing full well he was spending it on vodka.

Arrgghh, I'm still boiling after watching that last night.

People just WILL NOT accept responsibiity for their own actions. I could write a book of excuses as to why people have poor oral health.

You may be right. I'm no medical expert but I do have children the same sort of age. The portion sizes that we saw were very large and laden with carbs. Most children that age will be very active with football/ballet plus swimming and running round the house and garden. The boy's lifestyle is extremely sedentary. You could argue that is effect rather than cause. I think the Mum is just plain feeding him too much and letting him sit around. Couple that with the Mum's defensive attitude and it's not difficult to see how he got like that.

I did notice with the overweight 5 year old that the lad never asked for food and yet his mother was pushing him to have a bowl of weetabix with milk and a banana before his dinner!

THAT is why your son is fat.

Someone mentioned to me after watching it that it wasn't actually the son that was at fault, it was her with the problem, she just keeps feeding him.

And as for not acknowledging that what she gives him is healthy, but that feeding him too much isn't a bad thing... errr, hang on love, he's the size of a fking 17-year-old at age five...
