true, but there's only one party who has been in the seat of power for the last 13 years!

how come the manifesto is looking to change so much? haven't these clowns been in power for the last 13 years? if they are such good ideas that they've made it into their manifesto, why haven't they been implemented in the last 159 months?

quite simply time fo someone else to have a go, even if you don't particularly think they'd do a drastically better job, 'things can only get better'. this time, it's true!

The problem is that he says it in a way that means, "but I understand how to put it right and nobody else does, so don't vote for those dangerous Tories."

FFS, so now he admits that the reason we entered a recession first, left it last and owe more money than anyone else is due to his ineptitude?!! on an election run up?

The problem is that the plebs will still vote for him as they "know" that it was all still the fault of all those nasty rich bankers and Thatcher

He's not admitting a mistake, he's keeping the focus of blame on the banks.

Is this not akin to Brown having set fire to your house trying to convince you he is the only one able to throw a bucket of water on it?

I so hope they don't win....... banghead

Forget the truth. The point is that he gives the appearance of humility whilst actually shifting the blame back on to the banks.

Point taken, but he is taking an incredible risk admitting this now, CMD and Clegg should be able to rip him a new ahole for doing so, only the drooling idiots will be fooled by it

i think there's enough people who haven't been fully converted to the hoard of noolayba 'believers' (spongers) who will be able to see this as the admission of guilt it is.

There are lots of non-spongers who cannot see past their hatred of Thatcherism to vote Conservative, and who believe that the Tories would have regulated no differently.

Public sector spending issues then get sucked into the usual "why do you hate the NHS?" trap, and we're back where we always are.

I think he is positioning this as ammunition against the Tories' proposals for giving business more freedom. The next time Cameron mentions it, the public will be primed for the "giving the big nasty businesses free reign" counterargument.

but on the other hand, there will be plenty of owners and staff of SMEs who would have loved the boom created by labour and enjoyed bigger houses, new cars etc. but will have been hammered hard by the cockups made by brown as chancellor. i don't this slice of society will be too keen on voting him in as PM.

i'm no 2010 conservative (more of a 1979 type) but they have to be a better bet than the 1997, 2001, and 2005 labour offerings.
