When I bought my PC - about 5 years ago, I bought one with a 233 processor. Having just done the check on the bt site for broadband See Here it appears that my processor is only a 166 and therefore not suitable for Broadband.

Is there somewhere in Windows that I can check my processor? Seem to remember something via the control panel - but cant find it now.

Mine shows up on start up and in the System Properties panel accessed from the Control Panel.

However, I'm talking about where to find it on a steam powered Win 98SE OS, so that might be b****X-all use to you!

Big_M, I run bb on a pentium 100 laptop... the reason they talk about minimum requirements is the applications that run on the internet i.e. Flash/Streaming media - you won't get the best out of them, but for browsing it will be fine!

there isn't anywhere you can check directly (via windows) you need to use the Bios - it's displayed in the startup table (assuming you're not running a hidy thingy (big blank screen or logo)), otherwise get into the Bios (hit del or F2 just after power) and have a nose about.

Trust us tho, for broswing any old machine will do.

Or you could use this handy Check CPU utility:

http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/J.Steunebrink/

It's the second link up above the picture of Garfield.

Make sure you run it in a dos box, but it will tell you all you need to know about your cpu. Have found it useful for avoiding having to rip customers machines apart to find what is really inside.

....Yes sir, of course you have a Pentium 7 Ninja Terahertz processor.
