Parking Ticket. Wrong Registration number.

Hi All,
I got a Parking ticket today, It was a bit annoying because I had actually tried to put my pound coin in the damn meter and it just got rejected. The meter was a single slot with 4 push buttons for 4 bays. The idea is that you push your button then add the coins and it displays how much time you have left in the LCD Display, there is also a red flag that pops up in a window (4 windows - 1 for each bay) so the traffic wardens can see it from 100m! anyway never seen this type of meter before. I went into the site I was visiting and came out less than 10 mins later to get my tools out of the car and there was a ticket on it!
Another guy pulled up and parked behind me and I was moaning to him about the ticket, he promptly put his pound coin in and paid! Perhaps it was user error on my part but I was willing and had tried to pay!
Anyway, The registration number on the ticket isn't mine! It's got one digit wrong a 3 instead of a 9 so I don't intend to pay it. It's not my registration! But I was looking for the link to the RAC page that allowed you to put a registration number to find out what car it belonged to to see if it was a valid no.
Could someone post it again, Please...

Doesn't matter if they do come after you. For a parking tocket to be valid from a warden, it must be "Served" which means attached to the vehicle. A ticket has never been served to your reg. I think it's their loss!!!
The advice to stay schtum is the right advice.
On the topic, if you EVER see a warden writing a ticket for your car, don't talk to them, they won't listem. Just get in your car and drive off! Run if necessary..... it's worth it.
You will notice that if you talk, they keep writing and then stick the ticket on you. At that point it is legally issued and there is nothing they can do. Until that precise moment, the ticket isn't valid.
Does the soul good to see their faces when you stick it up em!!!

Hmm, That's a very intresting read Tony, I got one the other day but she was still writing it out. Had I have known that then I would have saved myself fifty quid!
I always assumed they don't talk back because they just get abused by the drivers.

I checked several variations of the number plate they put on my ticket and it returns the same make and colour in several instancies! I guess if they were to try and issue the ticket again they would have to pick one that was in a similar area, Just thinking about that because there was a post I read that said a ticket was re issued to someone a year later!

They know it's the law and they will keep you distracted till the second it's on your vehicle... I have been caught like this.... and have got off a couple of times since I learned this little gem.

Ah thats why I never got done for that one in Chester then, I did a runner.
My wife had a ticket issued in Dec, but with the wrong registration number - ignored it so far.
Only thing is that Edinburgh wardens take digital pics of the car with the ticket attached as evidence, and the pic presumably has the number plate on it.
Can they re-issue a ticket on the basis of the photo?

How much bottle do they have??? If they stand in the way, give their knees a little squeeze with your bumper. Car versus pedestrian car wins every time 
I would imagine it wouldn't be difficult to find a witness who would support you if one of the little hitlers tried to illegally detain you!!!!
Disclaimer, it's all getting silly now. I do not condone anything apart from sitting in cotton wool all day. Until the politbureau make that illegal too
