Right guys,

at uni and share a house with 3 girls (trust me, it's not as good as it sounds, i only get on well with 1 of them hehe )

and one of the ones i really don't like has been really quite cheeky. we have a sky package which she said was £10 per month and everyone was paying that. i checked the initial bill and it was £40 so all was well. what happens is, it's in her name, we all pay her and she pays the bill (didn't want it in my name for obvious reasons)

anyways, the person i liked told me to check the old bills.... so, i did this. and for a period of 3 months the bills were only £7 each (so i've paid £9 too much) and the last bill was £9.75 each. we got those 3 months free line rental (it's sky and broadband) and now the extra £2.75 each is the line rental fee. so basically, i've paid £9.25 to her which is my money. now, this is not very much money and so i wouldn't usually kick up too much of a fuss.

however, the house mate i liked asked said cheeky if she had told me the bill was only £7 a month and cheeky said yes, despite the fact she hadn't.

so, assuming the next bill is £9.75, i'm going to deduct the £9.25 she "owes" me and pay just 50p. the question is, would you confront the cow about it, or just pay 50p and wait for her to ask you where her money is?

smile

cheers

Not exactly cheeky is it, it's in their name and they are taking the risk you'll all ps off and leave her the contract, extra couple of quid is a pint for thier troubles.

First off, be sure she is aware (could be just dd'ing from her account). If she is aware and was skimming some cash - give her 50p and be done with it.
Next thing to do is cancel sky and leave the dish on the roof, get a freesat reciever for 60 quid, no more bills wink
And as this is PH, you could tell her that she can "repay" you in other ways......

I think you know what the PH response to this will be, so why don't you just go ahead and do it. smile

Mate, it's a tenner. Actually, less than a tenner

I know there's a principle involved and being a student you're not flush, but it's a tenner.

Just confront her about it and ask what the actual amount should be. She might confess and give you what you're owed.
If she denies it, tell her you've seen the bill and are only paying what you should from now on.

If it really bothers you, when you come to leave at the end of term/course, just bugger off without paying your final payment.

It's not worth the bother and she has the hassle of having it set up in her name after all.

It's nice that we have threads like this, as a sort of balance to the ones posted by people whose family have been almost beaten to death, suffering from cancer etc.

Use a bit of her milk in your tea each day for the next 2 years that should get the money back.

Forget the tenner (it's not worth it) and pay her the appropriate amount going forward.

just talked to her about it and she said just miss 1 months payments.

i'm not a , i will pay the remainder of the contract, that's just harsh.

i said it's not the money, it's only a tenner, but i just thought it was cheeky that she told someone that they had told me it was cheaper when they didn't, so was knowingly taking my money. £10 is hardly gonna break the bank (that's what i own a 28 year old car for hehe ), but it's more principle.

job done smile

Can I have a tenner please, since it's nothing to you.

I know your a student, but, £9, seriously, you need to get out more! As above she's taking the risk having it in her name, if she'd done you out of £100 then I'd be pissed off but it's hardly the crime of the century is it!
