broadband useage

Hi Guys,

How many gb per hour does xbox live use if say playing say call of duty, Just trying to work out if my broadband limit of 10 gb per month is enough to run 2 xboxes and a ps3 for a month. Any ideas?

Xboxes prob used 2-3hrs each per day and the ps3 1h/day

And of course ph surfing!

Bandwidth is game dependant usually around 10 to 50kbits/s download and about 1/2 of that upload whilst playing. Bandwidth increases much more if you're hosting games, then it's dependant on the number of players. Also, chat adds to the bandwidth, but multi-chat is handled via the Live servers.
At 40kbits/s that's less than 20MB download per hour.

Watch out for downloading demos, as these cna be a gig in size.

Just found some relevant data for you - if you're the host you will be using 200-300mb per hour, according to this:

If you're not hosting it's less than 30mb per hour.

10Gb per month is a very low broadband allowance, I would seriously think about changing your ISP.

It depends what he's using it for.

However assuming:
3 consoles x 30mb/hour x 3 hours/day x 30 days/month = 8,100 mb/month
Which is getting on for the 10Gb limit, without even allowing for extra play at weekends, or hosting games, or any other use.

So if you just browse the web and don't game or file share then 10Gb is fine. But for what the OP suggests, it sounds like it will be a pretty fine line most months.

(I game on XBL quite a lot, and kept breaching my 10Gb/month limit so switched to a faster product with 'no limit' and gaming is more fun as I have a faster connection to host and I am host more often too.)
