My passenger seatbelt has become a little 'floppy' and doesn't return when let go anymore. This means the seatbelt overall is slack when someone is using it.

Is this likely to be the seatbelt tensioner? Could it be anything else? Anyone know how much the part costs/whether replacing it is something that you can do at home?

Cheers for any help

I think that you can cure it by spraying the belt itself with some sort of dry lubricant (but can't remember what). There a few topics on BMWland about it a while back.

Silicone

Pull the seatbelt all the way out and wipe the very end with a clean cloth, see if that cures it first

If not, spray silicone lubricant (get from Halfords, motor factor) onto the end and retract/extend the belt a few times..

A simple wipe with a wet cloth (and a slight adjustment of the seat position) has certainly helped! If it returns, I'll get hold of some lubricant and try that too. Cheers, folks

if you have some Meguiars hyperdressing or something similar. Pull the seatbelt out, spray, retract, pull, spray, retract, pull, etc etc etc .
